About the Designer

L’Uomo Strano is founded by Toronto-based creative Mic Carter, whose work centers queer, Black, and gender-nonconforming self-expression. Through experimental design, Carter merges fashion with social justice, futurity, and community, creating affirming wardrobes for gender-nonconforming people and their allies. Their practice is especially focused on clothing as a source of visibility, strength, and responsive beauty for those pushed to the margins of cis-heteronormativity and femme-phobia.

Carter has also been recognized in Toronto’s fashion community for mentoring and championing emerging designers through collaborations with Toronto Metropolitan University and Fashion Art Toronto.
